Do It Anyway

courageI made a few changes and decisions on last year leading into 2017 that I did with knees shaking and hands trembling because of the uncertainty of how things were going to work out. Nonetheless, I did it anyway. “Courage is not the absence of fear but a willingness to do or face whatever it is despite of your fears.” The sentiments of this quote really hits home for me. Anything meaningful we are going to try and accomplish in this life will take courage. Courage at times to go against the grain and opinions of people. The courage to be bold in your personal convictions and faith. For a very long time, far longer than I would like to admit, I was slave to the opinions of others. Seeking my every decision, and sadly worth, to be validated by another. We miss out so much on living to our fullest potential when we are weighted down with the pressure of pleasing people. Not to mention our sphere of influence misses out on what we authentically bring to the world if we are consistently shifting who we are to be what others wants us to be. Being courageous can never be when we are imprisoned in our minds by the opinions of others. When our every move is predicated on what someone else may think.

How many times have you gone against your inclination, a leading, a burning desire in your heart and spirit to do something or go somewhere because your focus was on the wrong thing. Instead of focusing on the fact that, “our God gives you everything you need, makes you everything you’re to be” (2 Thessalonians 1:2), you allowed your focus to be on your deficiencies/inadequacies or even concern of how others will perceive your decisions.

courage-miniWhat if I told you that God’s plan for your life did not start yesterday?!? What if I told you He did not consult with another to determine your future? Then, what would you do with your now? Well it is true, His plan for your life did not start yesterday nor did He consult with another human being to determine your worth, how far you will excel in life, or if your mistakes no longer made you a valid candidate for success. His plan for your life started way before your life began. I once heard someone say, “it is not faith we lack but courage…”. Whatever you desire to achieve, wherever you desire to go will require courage to activate the faith you have. It requires courage because with any change there is uncertainty of how things will work out and a call to relinquish control which can be a frighten factor for many of us. But in order to experience what is on the other side of fear there must be a willingness to do and/or go anyway. It is going to take courage to achieve all you desire and dream of.  Become unstuck of crippling mindsets of self-doubt and defeating need to please others and move to a place of courage and confidence.

Affirm to:

  • Not be afraid to let your light shine so that men may see
  • Not be afraid or deterred if you are rejected by people
  • Not be afraid or held prisoner to the negative opinions of others
  • Not be afraid to release and let go of old habits that are just a familiar & comfortable place but are leading you to dead ends…they are not working to get you anywhere but the same place you’ve been for years
  • Not be afraid to shift…acquire new ways of thinking, doing, and being
  • Not be afraid to be the difference maker…determine within yourself that you are not going to act the same as everyone else
  • Not be afraid to letting go of some things you thought you could not live without
  • NOT BE AFRAID…regardless of how last year ended and how this year started whether good, bad, or a little shaky

Determine to gain, grow, and do so your perception of God can be expanded. His Will be revealed and your full potential in Him realized. Whatever dream you have placed on the shelf because of uncertainty and fear, choose to be courageous and do it anyway. Best in living out your dreams despite your fears!
